Guimarães 2012 CEC

With an estimated investment of 111 million EURO in knowledge and creativity, cultural and economic infrastructures, heritage and environmental enhancement, programming and communication, Guimarães 2012 ECoC will have "local community mobilisation in all initiatives, either as participant or as promoter of specific programmes" as a central focus.

The founding principles of the project include the "incitement to the extraordinary human experience which is born from the meeting between culture and creation, between beauty and sensitivity". Fundação Cidade de Guimarães wishes "to converge talent, creation and the entrepreneur spirit at the service of a new knowledge and creativity economy" and "to set the know-how culture in the centre of the action, by combining innovation and tradition, integrating different knowledges and artistic expressions".
