Guimarães 2012 in Tourismo Fair
Guimarães 2012 was presented to tour operators, travel agents and other stakeholders of tourism in London on the last 8th of November. The presentation, led by Carlos Martins, CEO of the European Capital of Culture - and which happened in the stand of Portugal, at the World Travel Market (WTM) - announced what it is, where it is and how will be the city of Guimarães as a European Capital of Culture 2012. The size of the average city is considered an advantage in finding a city of culture, more than open to visitors, it is shareable.
The action plan is part of the external promotion of Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture, which points to other European countries as targets of promotion. Guimarães 2012 will be present in other European fairs, including EIBTM (Barcelona), FITUR (Madrid) and ITB (Berlin). Guimarães 2012 had a multitouch table with content, presentation of the European Capital of Culture to WTM visitors, searchable in the Portugal stand.
It is recalled that the British market was the first in terms of foreign tourism demand to Portugal in 2010 and was responsible for generating over 1.3 million euros and 5.5 million overnight stays.
