VideoGang Call: Registrations are open
Guimarães 2012 is committed to stimulating the creativity and audiovisual production in the city of Guimarães, drawing advantage from accessible modes of initiation to digital cinema that encourage the setup of small collective structures of creation and production.
The field of “Cinema and Audiovisual”, together with the Movie Production Platform, are promoting the VIDEOGANG programme, which is a project of training, experimentation and production of creative formats geared towards web and social network dissemination, with a strong musical component.
VIDEOGANG is aimed at all those who have a creative talent for the arts of image and sound (directors, photographers, designers and other visual artists, including musicians and performers), whether in small groups or individually (available to become part of groups).
The proposal to infuse the energy of the gang-like spirit, combining irreverence and unity, is an opportunity for friendship and complicity to lend the unitary sense of Guimarães to the mode of creation, as well as to a strong assertion of authorship.
At most, six groups will be selected or set up (each with four to six elements). Preference goes to those who have already developed joint artistic and production activities. Selection may also hinge on the existence of elements who prove to possess technical mastery of sound and image operation and editing. All those interested may further request an interview, which will be taken into consideration in the selection process.
Signing up for the programme is free. The groups will receive financial backing, which will be channelled to the production of the videos.
The groups selected will further benefit from an intensive training and methodological guidance programme, with the following initiatives:
• Seminars of conceptual initiation to the format and development of ideas and screenplays.
• Intensive technical workshops on:
- Image capture in DSLR cinema and sound capture.
- Studio lighting.
• Masterclass with several national and international groups that have worked with these formats and that will present flashbacks in Guimarães.
The project will begin on 6 April, and it will continue on the weekends of April, May and June and, more intensively, in the months of July, August and September. Registrations are open until 31 March.
