PaperWork is a project of an inclusive nature, bringing together well-known and emerging artists. It will be produced in a format generally associated with a free newspaper and will be distributed throughout 2011 and 2012, in a total of 24 issues.
The objective of the paper’s dissemination prior to the ECoC period is to fulfil one of the goals associated with the keyword ‘New Languages,’ thus contributing to a greater familiarization with the image of the printed work of art and anticipating the ECoC’s Art and Architecture programming . PaperWork is a newspaper medium offered to artists who can reformulate existing pieces or create new work specifically for this project, thus producing a unique collection for ECoC 2012. A signed and numbered final box set edition of all the issues, limited to 150 copies, will be produced at the end of 2012.

Issues published or in production: Matt Mullican, Mauro Cerqueira, Cristina Mateus, Martina Schmid, Lawrence Weiner, Susana Mendes Silva, Luís Ribeiro, José Pedro Croft, Francisco Queirós, Carla Filipe, Jochen Gerz, Rita Castro Neves, Julião Sarmento, António Olaio, Manuel Santos Maia, Miguel Leal, Ana Hatherly (among others).
