"Macbeth" by William Shakespeare will be presented in the gardens of CCVF between the 6th and the 10th of July. Staged by Marcos Barbosa, "Macbeth" is the first work developed by the Studio Theatre, the theatrical structure created within the ECOC.
The evil of the world has never been staged as heavily and concisely as in "Macbeth", by William Shakespeare, his shortest and densest drama. The version proposed by the Theatre Studio compounds further the Shakespearean drama, closing the circle of the living in order to fit the work of only 12 players.
In this version, the ancient legend that Shakespeare sought to illustrate the eager for power, using elements of the English folklore and traditions, is closer to the Portuguese legend, featured with prayers and practices of our own memory and culture.
" (…) The Studio Theatre is represented by this piece – 12 actors and a chorus in a public garden, working ambitiously on Shakespeare, looking up, flying high, with no fear of falling.
The Studio Theatre has just started.”
