MoreLess ± ± 'emerged in 2005 as a research academic project, becoming an intervening art project in urban space.
This is a project of urban intervention, which materialized later as a symbol of protest against the current market society, in various forms. It’s the visual representative of the annulment of the economic system (+ - = 0), giving voice to a clear and direct stand against its genesis and hence the values of the society in which it operates.
This project is manifested all over the country and has participated in several artist residencies. Had two works acquired by the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas. Developed the project Type the Future under the event Future Places.
During the period of residence, ± will perform several interventions in the public space of Guimarães.
± maismenos ± surfaced in 2005 as a personal project developed in an academic research context. It quickly became a reference of creative intervention in Portuguese urban circles, due to its viral mechanics as well as the various media it wove itself into.
Initially, ± presented itself as a brand against brands, its utopian mission was to offer an antidote to advertising: ± may be found as illegal marks over a wide variety of urban environments. It later materialised itself as a symbol of protest against the market society in which we live, in its most diverse forms. It is the visual representative of annihilation of the economic system (+ - = 0), providing a voice for a clear and direct position against the genesis of this system and, as a consequence, the values of the society in which it exists. ‘± maismenos ±’ has staged manifestations throughout Portugal, invading a wide array of different spaces with exhibitions and interventions, including the stairway in front of the Assembly of the Republic, the Almeida Garrett Gallery in Oporto, the Vera Cortés Art Agency in Lisbon, integrated in the Underdogs project, the Maus Hábitos cultural intervention space in Oporto and the Visual Street Performance in Oporto, amongst others. It has participated in various artistic residencies in Portugal, such as ARTUR in Lagos and WALK&TALK in the Azores, where it transported its manifesto into the streets in an unauthorised manner. It has disseminated its activities on numerous occasions in the media, such as Expresso online. It appeared on the cover of the NS magazine of the Jornal de Notícias, occupied a full page of Jornal de Notícias, was a headline in the Comércio do Oporto, a 2-page spread in the Jornal de Negócios, amongst others, and has also been featured in various online platforms. Two works have been acquired by the Elvas Museum of Contemporary Art. It developed the project, Type the Future, in the framework of the event, Future Places, in Oporto.
