«Sonores» will expand horizons in sound experience as a process of sensorial perception and understanding of the world. A regular flow of creative and programmatic concepts will be held between the 22nd of April and the 13th of May, including radio broadcasts, concerts, residencies, sound installations and conferences taking place at the ASA factory and in several other places in the city. The project is set around the construction of a radio station, which will be the subject and transversal context for this cycle of events.
«Sonores» has been designed by Jonathan Saldanha, Manuel João Neto, Ewen Chardronnet, Filipe Silva and Benjamin Brejon, artists who are members of the Oporto group SOOPA, and by some of their closest collaborators, and is a logical extension of the themes that have been at the base of their creative activity and research over the last decade.
«Sonores» proposes a multidisciplinary programme that has as conceptual topic the critic and artistic questioning of the notion of ‘sound’, including times for reflection and dialogue, critic and analyses, learning and collaborations, interventions in public space, besides an artistic and musical performances’ programme.
Its objective is to indicate the possible horizons of the sound experience in the core of the understanding process and sensitive perception of the world. This way we aim to equate it through its relation with space ressonances, to cross it with other artistic practices, such as architecture and plastic arts, and to consider it as a social interaction activation agent and cultural meaning producer.
