Cartographies of Memory and the Everyday was an invitation made to a group of European illustrators to participate in an artist-in-residence event in various parts of the city and county in which they produce a personal reading of the diverse strata of the urban space, both from the most emblematic elements linked to memory or the less remarking features, the old and the new, as well as the diversity of the residents of Guimarães.
The result of this work will be displayed in large-scale images on billboards placed throughout the region, allowing for intense interaction with the public and facilitating the different possibilities for the urban contextualization of these images. From these series of interventions an exhibition will take place, dedicated to the work processes undertook by the illustrators, showing the various stages of the creation of the work.
The exhibition will be complemented by a conference/round table in which the artists will be present to discuss their work and share their reflections on how their artist-in-residence experience touched them.
