Under the project Reimagine Guimarães, the Martins Sarmento Society will be hosting, from 9 March onwards, the exhibition about the photographic work of Martins Sarmento.
The exhibition entitled
The Photographer Martins Sarmento features a revision of the photographic collection through an interpretation proposal based on faces (the portraits by Sarmento), suspensions (the effect obtained from sketching the contours of the object or person photographed) and things (the images of Samento’s archaeological findings). This exhibition is accompanied by a book-catalogue with the publication, for the very first time, of the Photography Notebooks written by Francisco Martins Sarmento, between 1868 and 1876.
Guimarães 2012 premieres the
film produced by Jorge Campos and commissioned by the European Capital of Culture about this prominent figure of the Guimarães society. The session will take place at the [CAE] São Mamede cinema room, on 8 March at 9:30pm.
